At atelier Mauve, we believe that art and our unique creative expression are not just about capturing what we see around us, but also about exploring our inner experiences. Through the lens of our observations, beliefs, and emotions, we color the world. We invite you to explore your perspective through brushstrokes, color, form, and composition. No perspective is the ‘right’ one; it all depends on how we look.

We help you develop your own style, assuming that everything has value: your interpretation is always valid. Whether you are a beginner or more experienced, we adapt to your needs.

Our studio, a former car garage, provides a creative workspace where, besides paintings and drawings, ceramics are made. . Besides our courses we organise exhibitions and can offer commissioned work.
Creative Community
At Atelier Mauve, artists come together to share their passion with like-minded people, giving room to experiment and grow. A place to exchange ideas and inspire each other. And above all, it’s a fun place to be!

The Courses we offer:

At Atelier Mauve, everyone aged 16 and older is welcome, regardless of experience, background, gender, and/or origin.

The lesson program is diverse:
Choosing your own path, at ‘Free Acrylpainting advanced’.
Various workshops to work towards an acrylic painting on canvas in ‘The Atelier Group’.
A free introduction to various techniques in ‘The Experiment’.
‘Portrait Painting’ lessons.

Free Acrylic Painting – Advanced- Continuous

You have some experience with painting and some basic knowledge such as perspective and composition. Perhaps you want to create a more personal color palette or work on your own style. You’re looking for a place to brainstorm, create your own work, or give your work more direction.

In this course, you can go your own way, and when needed, we provide guidance. While working with like-minded people, you inspire each other and discover more about your individual direction. You can further develop your artistic skills or make a fresh start/change in the content of your work.

If you miss a class due to vacation or illness, it can be made up after consultation.

Atelier Group Acrylic Painting – Some Experience – 12 Lessons

You want to (further) develop your painting skills.

In various workshops, we cover a specific subject with a fixed group of participants. We discuss the results of the workshops together.
Topics include: color research, material knowledge, brushstroke, composition, and collage techniques. We pay attention to the work of well-known artists (various styles and techniques) to inspire and learn from. You are guided and encouraged to make your artistic development and qualities visible. Everything learned comes together in a personal (final) work on paper or canvas.

The Experiment – All Levels – Continious

You are ready to let your creativity flow and let your intuition speak. Everything here revolves around experimenting with material and technique.

There is a wide range from charcoal, pencil, and brush to pastel, collage, and acrylic. You choose your own subject and image, and you get help and guidance when needed. Be inspired by colors, shapes and images around you and create something unique!

Classical Portrait Painting – Some Experience – 10 Lessons

You have some experience with painting and want to learn how to paint a realistic portrait.
We humans look at each other, photograph each other, and sometimes try to figure out each other’s mind. The longer you look at someone, the more you see! Especially as a portrait painter.

To work from a live model, you need to be very good at drawing to achieve likeness. We skip this step and work from a photo, taken by you or someone else. We use a classical technique from the sixteenth century, starting with a transparent underpainting in acrylic and then building up the portrait with opaque acrylic and/or oil paint in layers. We guide you step by step through this process. This course requires you to look very closely offers deepening in technical knowledge and use of colour at every level to achieve good likeness.

Monique and Carolina, both graduates of the Graphic School, Art Academy, and additional art studies, are experienced guides who can explain a wide range of (painting) techniques. After years of collaboration within, among other things, graphic design, they are perfectly attuned to each other. Besides their course offerings at Atelier Mauve, they each work as painters in their own studio.

Atelier Mauve, on the ground floor, is light (40 m²), equipped with daylight lamps and heating. There is a green courtyard where painting can also be done during the summer months.
