Some Experience
You have some experience with painting and want to learn how to paint a realistic portrait.
We humans look at each other, photograph each other, and sometimes try to figure out each other’s mind. The longer you look at someone, the more you see! Especially as a portrait painter.
To work from a live model, you need to be very good at drawing to achieve likeness. We skip this step and work from a photo, taken by you or someone else. We use a classical technique, starting with a transparent underpainting in acrylic and then building up the portrait with opaque acrylic and/or oil paint in layers. We guide you step by step through this process. This course requires you to look very closely offers deepening in technical knowledge and use of colour at every level to achieve good likeness.
